Nearly 1 in 5 Americans have a disability, making people with disabilities the largest minority group. The Health & Disabilities department advocates for people of all ages with disabilities in the greater Santa Clara community.

SENIOR CONNECTION
Program Coordinator: Olivia Marx (omarx@scu.edu)

Senior Connection is a great way to connect with the elderly in our community at Live Oak Senior Center! We play bingo, engage in amazing conversations, and learn from a generation with so much wisdom to offer. They are so grateful for the time we spend together, and it’s so much fun! 

Times: Tuesdays, 1-2:30 PM

RECIPES FOR RELIEF
Program Coordinator: Maya Barrett (mnbarrett@scu.edu)

Recipes for Relief cooks and provides warm meals for families at JW House. The JW House is a low- to no-cost medical hospitality house for families of patients currently receiving care at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Hospital and other San Francisco Bay Area hospitals. Through cooking, we can bring a brief sense of relief and normalcy to families because the last thing they should worry about is what or where to eat while staying beside loved ones.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

THE FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE

Join us in participating in Special Olympics of Northern California sports each season. We will be coaching, playing, and enjoying various sports with athletes of all ages. No experience coaching or playing sports is required.

Times: Sundays, 8:00-10:00 AM
Requirements: n/a  — Preference for recurring volunteers

Work with young adults with special needs...cooking classes, trampoline park, bowling, and so much more!

BAY AREA WOMEN'S SPORTS INTIATIVE

Hi! I'm Cassi Bull, a junior double majoring in Child Studies and Psychology. I have a passion for working with young children, especially those with disabilities, so I am super excited to return to SCCAP as Program Coordinator for Special Olympics again this year! Outside of SCCAP, I am part of the SCU A Cappella group Supertonic and the University Honors Program. I love to read and crochet, especially outside on a nice sunny day. I also enjoy going on hikes and spending lots and lots of time at the beach!
